The Tekken Tag Tournament Soundtrack is being released here in America by Tokyopop and distributed by Electro Source. With 33 songs, Tekken Tag Tournament Direct Audio has lots of great music from the game and inspired by the game.
The songs are all a nice blend of electronica and orchestral, varying from slow and epic sounding pieces to fast techno songs. There's the Opening Movie music, the music that is played during character selection
(Select), and 'theme' music for everyone's favorite characters, such as Jin, Paul, Hwoarang, Eddy, Yoshimitsu, Lei, Law, Nina, Xiayu, King, and Heihachi, as well as some other familiar tracks from the game.
While a few of the tracks are extremely short (especially tracks 24-28, ranging from 1 to 4 seconds), a few of them are of fairly decent length, and the last four tracks are remixes, each of which last just over 4 minutes.
Not including the last four tracks, the average track length is around 1/2 to 2 minutes. With the exception of the few extremely short tracks, most of the tracks are pretty nice and quite ambient. Fans of Tekken will find their favorites here. Fans of techno and trance may find some tracks they like quite a bit. As I listen to the disc, I can't help but think how good some of the tracks would be for a DJ while making 'bridges' or mixes between songs. (Especially if there's a gaming crowd in the audience.)
Watch for Tokyopop and Electro Source to bring us the soundtracks to Parasite Eve II and FINAL FANTASY IX -scheduled for release November 13, 2000.
