Battle Princess Madelyn First Look
Company: Causal Bit Games
Product: Battle Princess Madelyn
We recently had the opportunity to get some hands-on time with pre-alpha code for Battle Princess Madelyn to get a very early First Look at the game. As far as retro games go, Battle Princess Madelyn may be on the short list for a lot of gamers that enjoy the nostalgia of classic 8-bit games of years past. In the same vein as Ghosts 'n' Goblins, Ghouls 'n' Ghosts, and many other side-scrollers with a lot of action and beautiful visuals, Battle Princess Madelyn has really lived up to the hype surrounding it.

Battle Princess Madelyn has gotten its momentum through a very successful KickStarter campaign, already reaching over 200% of its initial goals less than a month into its debut. Judging by the fanfare, this title is what some are calling the long-awaited spiritual successor to the G'n'G franchise.

After playing a few of the initial levels, it's easy to see why fans are hyped. Battle Princess Madelyn truly is a blast from the past and its visuals are beautifully reminiscent of years gone by. The gameplay is intense and it is quite easy to find yourself joining the skeletons and other demons that lurk in the night. The pixel art of Battle Princess Madelyn is outstanding, and the simplified animations help make the title stand out among others whom have tried to replicate the era.

It's hard to know exactly when Battle Princess Madelyn will be officially released, as with all crowd-funded games, but when it does, it is sure to deliver enjoyment to gamers young and old. It will be interesting to see what tweaks are done to the gameplay and difficulty before release, as currently, it feels like overall, there is a bit too forgiving of a balance system of earning and extending life. However, this is pre-alpha gameplay we are talking about, so there is a long way to go. That said, it doesn’t take away from the presence that Battle Princess Madelyn will grace on your PC, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Wii U, and potentially PS Vita.
