EA Sports has again created a game with impressive realism. NCAA Football 2001 provides another great escape to college football. The graphics are once again impressive, as they have been in years past. Each man on the field looks different from the next, whether it be height, weight, or skin color. Also, the definition and detail in all the different stadiums is just awesome.

Fans know that some of the best crowds in the world come from college football. Real live chants go accordingly with the game, as do the boos. For example, I've found that if you beat a team that is ranked when you are not, the crowd chants out OVERRATED... clap, clap, clap clap clap. How sweet is that???

If the name NCAA Football 2001 doesn't give you an idea what this game is about, then here is a hint: it's college football at its best. Rivalries, bowl games... this game has it all. And you have plenty of different options of game types. You can have a regular Exhibition game, or lead your college to a national championship in a Season or Dynasty mode. In the Dynasty mode, you have to do all the things a coach would do in the off-season: recruiting, red shirting, and cutting players that aren't worth your time.

Playing NCAA Football is just as simple. Running, passing, and catching just become secondhand nature after playing for a short while. A fun feature that is in the game is the Momentum Meter. Depending on how well your team is doing against the opponent, it will go up and down accordingly. When the meter is high, your team can do no wrong. But if the other team has the momentum, it could be a tough climb back to victory.

If you're wondering about the number of schools in the game, wonder no more. Every Division One school is enlisted, as well as D-IAA. And each has the accurate roster along with their fight song and mascot. But that's not all!!! You can even create your very own UNIVERSITY!!! It details down to the number of people enrolled, to the size of the stadium, which fight song, and the look of the jerseys.

The AI for NCAA Football 2001 is great. You can't keep doing the same plays over and over because the computer will catch on. And you can switch your difficulty level around too, so you won't be bored with just one level. You can always test your abilities by playing a highly ranked team with some no-name school. I still have problems with that, even on the default level.

The loading time for NCAA Football 2001 isn't very long. It'll use up a lot of memory card however. Controller wise, it handles well on the default setting, but that can always be changed.

All in all, NCAA Football 2001 is another great college football game. So put on your pads, lace up the cleats, and strap on your helmet for one of the best college football games of the year!!!
