Hot Shots Golf Fore!: Hot Shots Golf Comes Back for More

The Hot Shots crew is back again in the cleverly titled Hot Shots Golf Fore! Not much has changed since the last game, and it seems pretty much identical to Hot Shots Golf 3 with a few, fairly minor additions. One thing that?s true of all the games in the Hot Shots series is that they are pretty easy to pick up and play even if you?re not familiar with golf games. While not quite as easy as say Mario Golf, they also offer a much greater depth than most ?easy to play? golf games.

I?m not going to waste a lot of your time by telling you how similar Hot Shots Fore! is to Hot Shots 3. It can be summed by saying they?re pretty much the same game at the core. Hot Shots Fore! just looks like it?s going to tweak a few minor things and introduce a couple of minor changes, as well as new characters to unlock and new courses to learn.

The most obvious of these changes is the introduction of an elevation curve that shows you the lay of the terrain between you and the hole. While you previously had such a diagram only during putts, it now appears during all shots. There were a few other new odds and ends I discovered, the first of which was a new type of power shot, designated with a blue flame, though, I couldn?t really determine how it differed from the red flame power shot. Another was the Everybody Club, which changed your golfers impact stat to nothing, just a blank. Like the blue flame power shot, I wasn?t really able to discern what this meant.

Like any good sequel, there are also some minor graphical improvements. There were two major ones that I could note right away. One was the addition of wind lines flying through the air. The second was the water. It seems like they reworked the way water looks from scratch; it now reflects light and flows more realistically. In any event, if you were a big fan of Hot Shots 3, it looks like Hot Shots Fore! is shaping up to be more of the same, but better.
