PSP Classics - Now Available as Downloads Company: SCEA Product: PSP Classics Gangs of London and Wipeout Pure are not new PSP titles; why, Wipeout Pure is a Greatest Hits title. However, there is something new about these titles that is worth mentioning. They're now available for purchase online at the PlayStation Store, as downloadable games for the PSP*. (*NOTE: You'll need a memory stick for your PSP on which to install the games.) The games appear to be exact duplicates of the originals. I haven't noticed any added content or any other difference between the originals and the downloadable versions. There is, however, one very interesting difference. Once downloaded, the games can be installed on multiple PSPs. This may make this delivery method more interesting to gamers, but it's likely to discourage developers from publishing games in this manner as their first-tier (or primary-run) distribution method. However, for games that have seen the end of their original run, the download option may be a viable way to get some additional revenue out of an older game. It could also serve as a good way to revitalize licenses, getting a good game back in front of gamers in time to generate additional interest in another installment of the series. Take, for instance, Wipeout Pulse. I am sure the downloadable Wipeout Pure will help create interest in this next installment in the Wipeout series.
