In the pages and animated film of Wolverine Versus Sabretooth, we saw the two feral mutants face off in what was supposed to be their final and climactic battle. We learned of another twist to Wolverine's hidden history and of a new enemy named Romulus who claimed to be the forefather of all mutants with Wolverine and Sabretooth's brand of animalistic nature.

The result of that massive fight between two of Marvel's most ferocious rivals was Wolverine standing over Sabretooth's decapitated body with the mystical Muramasa Blade in his hand - the one thing that should be able to counter either of their healing factors.

Where Marvel Knights Animation Presents: Wolverine Versus Sabretooth: Reborn starts off is with Wolverine suspecting that maybe the Sabretooth he killed wasn't the real Sabretooth. The story starts off with Wolverine having to save Cloak, who claims that Sabretooth is the one that captured both he and his partner, Dagger. Wolverine quickly learns that not only is Sabretooth alive and well, but Romulus has been released from Cloak's shadow dimension.

As the story unfolds, Wolverine not only gets himself in a new series of fights, but we also meet a new player, a red-headed fighter who can't help but remind Wolverine of Jean Grey. Exactly how this new femme fatale fits into everything is just one of the questions that Wolverine will have to find answers to. Like usual, Wolverine has to retrace his past back to the Weapon X facility in order to uncover even more secrets from his past.

Wolverine's past seems to be one of those in-jokes in the comic book world. Just like characters not staying dead, every time Wolverine learns his origins, those new details are ret-conned or rewritten a few years later. That being said, there seemed to be enough loose threads from the original Wolverine Versus Sabretooth to make this follow-up feel planned, and as a result, it fits nicely next to the previous Marvel Knights animated feature. While Marvel Knights Animation Presents: Wolverine Versus Sabretooth: Reborn doesn't have any special features, it's still a good companion piece if you have the earlier release.
