Blizzard Chill
Critical Hit:2
Elemental Power:25

Like the Series 1 and Lightcore versions found in Skylanders: Giants, Skylanders: Swap Force - Blizzard Chill starts off with two attacks, an Ice Javelin and an Ice Wall. The first is a good ranged weapon that is both fast and effective, and the other is just what it sounds like. The Ice Wall is a series of ice blocks that erupt from the ground in a row. If there happen to be any enemies along its path, they get pushed away. This attack's initial upgrades (before having to choose a path, that is) not only let you hold down the button to make a bigger wall, but also makes it so that the wall can deal damage to enemies. Used right, this attack can be used both defensively and offensively.

Outside of the two Ice Wall upgrades you get before choosing an upgrade path, Blizzard Chill also lets you buy an armor upgrade called Imperial Armor and the characterís third attack, which is actually a defensive ability that raises Blizzard Chillís shield.

As you might guess, Blizzard Chillís paths allow you to further develop either her Javelin or her Ice Wall. The first path will let her deal more damage with the javelin, cause the spear to break up into multiple weapons if you throw it through the wall, and finally, throw three javelins at once. As for the Ice Wall upgrades, the first one lets you throw a javelin at a block and cause it to explode, the second lets those explosions freeze nearby enemies, while the last means the initial damage dealt when you raise up your Ice Wall is bigger and affects more enemies.

Blizzard Chillís Soul Gem ability (found in Giants in the Lost City of Arkus, or just ready to buy in Swap Force) is Call of the Narwhal!. Charging up your Javelin attack summons a powerful helper to the field. Blizzard Chill also has a Wow Pow ability added for Swap Force. This one is called Orcastration! and is activated by charging your Ice Wall attack longer to make mini orcas appear in the ice wall. When shattered, they are released and attack enemies.

    • Skylanders: Giants
    • Skylanders: Swap Force
  • Series 2 Character

While Skylanders: Swap Force - Blizzard Chill is a Series 2 character, she did get two versions in Giants since there was both the Core figure and the Lightcore one. Because of this, Blizzard Chill behaves no differently than the previous versions will in Swap Force. Then again, if you are an avid collector, this wonít mean a thing and you will probably still want to add it to your collection.

In general, Chill is a good, balanced character. Her Ice Javelin does good both in close combat and against further enemies, while the strategic use of her Ice Wall means you not only can deal damage to enemies immediately, but guiding them into the wall again and again deals more damage. That being said, I never really used the Ice Wall attack, nor for that matter, the shield - Iíve never been one for blocking and tend to go in javelins flying, but they are useful tools while stuck behind a battle gate.

While it is hard to recommend buying a new version of an older character when they donít really play any different, unlike some characters that have had multiple versions since Spyroís Adventure, there isnít a whole lot of variety for Chill right now. If you like this character, and you already have another version of her, itís all a matter of how much you like her. I have to say though, I happen to like this particular repose of Chill with her javelin and shield ready for combat almost as if she were some ancient Greek or Roman statue.
