Previously on The Walking Dead: A New Frontier:
The Walking Dead: A New Frontier: Episode 4 - Thicker than Water puts Javier and David in some pretty hot water after confronting Joan about the secret ventures she has been requesting of David's team. By the end of Episode 3, a gunshot was fired and players were left wondering exactly what happened and who would end up on the other end of the bullet.

While the episode culminated in that argument and eventual gunshot, a lot of other important events happened in Above the Law; for one, Javier and his friends not only got to learn what happened to David and how he got involved in New Frontier, but they also uncovered Joan's little secret. By the end of the episode, several Richmond citizens could have ended up dead, and exactly who they are or how they died will have caused some subtle, but noticeable changes in Thicker than Water.

The Calm Before the Storm:
The Walking Dead: A New Frontier: Episode 4 - Thicker than Water's flashback section harks to a time before the outbreak with Javier and David practicing in the batting cages. While it was after Javier was expelled from the league, it doesn't seem to be close to the family drama that players saw during the initial episode's opening sequence. Instead, we get some heartfelt moments between the brothers as David talks about his marital woes and the player, as Javier, has to choose their words wisely since promises kept or refused could lead to slightly different attitudes between the siblings.

Once the flashback is over though, we see the brothers escorted into Richmond's quarantine area and while David is quickly brought to Joan for further questioning, Javier is left to find his own way to freedom. Once out though, what can he do? Javier will be faced with several decisions that could influence the way that everyone from young Gabe, to Kate, or even Tripp and Eleanor feel about Javier. As the group talks through their situation, they work to form a plan that will hopefully get them all out of the town. The only real problem is what to do about David since he appears to be going on trial in front of the whole community.

In the scenes leading up to the town hall meeting/trial, Javier will run into Clementine once again and we get to see another snippet of her time between the past two seasons. In this flashback, we see her just after being expelled by New Frontier and forced to leave AJ behind, and once again, Javier will have to make a tough decision with the hopes of helping Clem learn some vital information. Interestingly enough, you can leave this encounter without learning that information, and it will be good to see how that particular story arc wraps up if you don't know the details that another choice would give you.

Town Meeting:
With a plan made and some of the groundwork laid down, despite a few hiccups, Javier and his friends are ready to try and stop the big meeting. Hopefully along the way, they will free David and expose Joan. As you might expect though, by the time The Walking Dead: A New Frontier: Episode 4 - Thicker than Water wraps up, not everything will go as planned and the final few scenes of the episode come down to a series of quick time event action sequences peppered with choices that are sure to leave the start of the next episode in a few different possible places, depending on what you chose to do.

Next Time on The Walking Dead: A New Frontier:
The Walking Dead: A New Frontier: Episode 4 - Thicker than Water ends with people close to Javier in some pretty bad conditions. Exactly how bad isn't quite clear, but the horde that was surrounding Richmond is ready to make matters worse. With Episode 5 - From the Gallows being A New Frontier's last installment, we should see all of the plots wrap up. We can only hope that not all of the endings we will see in the final episode will be bad ones, but there are bound to be a few painful consequences to the choices that Javier has made.

While I still don't feel the same thrill with A New Frontier that I did during this series' first or even second seasons, the game still does a good job of getting you invested in several of the characters and your choices do have some fairly drastic consequences. It will be interesting to see how this season wraps up and maybe we can get a hint as to who will survive to see the next season of The Walking Dead.
