It seems that Zen Studios is always hard at work to bring gamers one quality pinball table after another. Zen Pinball Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Table delivers all the fine-tuned pinball action of Zen Pinball, as well as a tribute to one of the most frantic and exciting modern action games ever made. The table looks great, and the challenges are nearly as pulse-quickening as the action of Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2. Put simply, it's a match made in heaven that fans of Zen Pinball and Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 should definitely check out.

Zen Pinball Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Table looks simultaneously clean and cluttered. This is pinball we're talking about, so the previous comment is to the game's credit. The field is decorated with pictures of Rachel, Momiji, and Ayane, and the location appears to be Sky City Tokyo. The slingshots look like the Falcon's Talons. Figurines of Dragon Ninja Ryu Hayabusa and Black Spider Clan leader Genshin stare each other down silently from opposite ends of the board... that is, until you make a shot that causes Ryu to flash across the catwalks and execute an Ultimate Technique. It's faithful to the point where I'm wondering if this project was a full-fledged collaboration between Zen Studios and Team Ninja.

The sound quality is pure and wholly faithful to its source matter. The slashes sound exactly like what you hear when you land hits with the Dragon Blade. The music sounds like something you'd hear in the game (or really, any Team Ninja game).

Pinball bears almost no explanation at this point. There are special goals you can complete if you are skilled enough. The Rule Book will help you locate certain targets and traps. It's a good idea to take a look at the Rule Book before tearing right into the table; that is, if you want to see all the table's special effects and find yourself in an impressive spot on the leaderboards.

The developer's attention to detail and obvious respect for Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 is what makes this table so fun. It's a joy to send the ball around loops and into bumpers, but it's even better when the loops and bumpers start missions that revolve around Ryu's battle with the Greater Fiends and the Black Spider Ninja Clan. This is natural to pinball, but Zen Studios has whittled this stuff down to a science.

$2.50. Seriously. This costs less than most iPhone apps. In a day where most downloadable content costs upwards of $10, Zen Pinball Ninja Gaiden 2 Table is affordable to the point that not getting it is more of a ripoff than actually forking out the money. The funny thing about all of this is that Zen Studios undoubtedly knows how much this table is worth, yet they still charge almost nothing for it. I would have paid double (maybe triple) the cost for this table, it's that good. However, they are doing a service to gamers by making this downloadable content so cheap. It strips pinball fans of every possible reason to avoid what is possibly the greatest game of video pinball ever released on a home console. Yes, I said it.
