SEGA DREAMCAST OS TO SUPPORT DOLBY SURROUND


Future games for the Dreamcast will have the opportunity to give the gamer a more 'immersive' experience, thanks to the inclusion of support for Dolby Surround in Version r11 of the Dreamcast Operating system, to be released in June. Dolby Surround on the Dreamcast will support up to 8 channels of real-time processing.
"We are looking forward to enabling Sega Dreamcast developers to deliver a game audio experience that puts the player in the center of the action," said Jonathan Hoffberg, the Senior Game Evangelist for Dolby
Dolby's content licensing program requires that games displaying the Dolby logo contain both real-time surround effects as well as linear content encoded with a certified Dolby Surround linear encoder, so when you see the Dolby logo, you'll know what to expect inside...
