Saitek's biggest announcement this year is not specifically a hardware device, but rather a unique software which Saitek claims to be 'the world's most powerful controller programming software'. This software is called, 'Saitek Gaming Extensions' (or, SGE). Touting nearly unlimited programmability and an easy setup, SGE basically becomes a part of Windows. With SGE, each button can individually be either: left as DirectInput, programmed with a command, or programmed with a cycle of commands to be rotated through with each press of the button. (Mechwarriors of the world can rejoice... this should make heat management much easier...) SGE was designed to allow for extremely simplified setup of controllers and, in fact, SGE will automatically configure itself as games are loaded.
