FIRST LOOK: LUCAS ARTS'
STAR WARS EPISODE 1:
OBI WAN

Ever since the original Star Wars movie came out in 1977, kids young and old have tried to imagine what it would be like to be a Jedi Knight. What a thrill it would be to wield a lightsaber! How great it would be to use a Jedi Mind trick on your teachers, 'You don't need to see my homework, you will give me an A for this test.' Although the previous Star Wars games in the past like Dark Forces, Rebel Assault, and Phantom Menace can't teach you the mind trick, but they did, quite well in fact, show you the fundamentals of Lightsaber Battle Techniques, and Force Pushing 101.

Location: California, at this year's E3 convention. LucasArts announces the release of Star Wars Episode 1: Obi Wan for the Fall of 2000. In this 3D-adventure title, you will follow Obi Wan on his journey from Padawen learner to Jedi Knight. As Obi Wan, you will face over a dozen of challenging levels, confronting Tusken Raiders, destroyer droids, and Sith mercenaries including Darth Maul.

According to Joel Dreskin, product marketing manager for LucasArts, what makes Obi Wan different from the previous titles is that 'the game represents the next evolution in LucasArts lauded 3D engine and gives players an opportunity to wield a Jedi Knight's powers as never before.' One thing that is new is that with an innovative and intuitive glyph combat system which relies on intuitive gesture based movements to control the force, you will be able to do flips, rolls, and jumps that you haven't been able to do in the past.

With a backdrop of some of the events of The Phantom Menace as its inspiration for some of the missions, there will be a lot of new surprises for even the most knowledgeable fan of the movie series. As the famous Jedi, you must your combat prowess and Force abilities to protect the innocent and vanquish threats.

For those of you lucky enough to have an Internet connection fast enough, you can play various multi-player options such as Death Match, protect the Queen, and much more! In multi-player options, you will even get a chance to play the enemies, like a destroyer droid!

I, for one, have enjoyed all of the Star Wars games that have come out in the past, and I'm sure this one won't disappoint!
