FIRST LOOK: CODEMASTERS' MIKE TYSON BOXING
Don't put your ear too close to the TV, 'cause Mike Tyson has his own video
game, courtesy of Codemasters. In a veritable 'Gran Turismo' of boxing,
Mike Tyson Boxing is said to feature 90 boxers (!) in 3 different
weight classes.Closer to a boxing simulation than a 'Punch-Out' revival, Mike Tyson
Boxing will allow you to go through training, build your career and
compete in several types of competitions. The graphics engine has been
designed to really let you feel the pain (my ear, my ear!) and customize
your defensive strategy. With 12 different punches to choose from, and
unique fighting styles for each boxer, going on the attack shouldn't be much
of a problem. We've yet to have a quality boxing game for the PlayStation, especially with
any kind of sim elements thrown in. The smart money says that Codemasters
might set a new benchmark in the Sports category when Mike Tyson
Boxing goes Stateside this month.
