FIRST LOOK:
DINOSAUR PLANET (RARE)

Imagine a world where dinosaurs, creatures that once dominated the earth are still alive... or so begins the press release. This holiday season, there's an amazingly beautiful game coming to the Nintendo 64. The storyline is a basic 'save the world' from a evil powerful enough to destroy the known universe. Based on my first glimpse at the game, it will not only be beautiful, but should easily succeed in 'taking you there' ...at least for a time. Games like this are not impossible ... but they are Rare...
'Rare has once again taken the interactive adventure beyond its limits,' says Peter Main, Nintendo's executive vice president, sales and marketing. 'This engrossing storyline, in-depth character interaction and what could possibly be the most strikingly beautiful graphics combine to make Dinosaur Planet the next must-have game for the N64.'
Well, while all of that may be true, for those in the know, simply the 'Rare' name on the box is enough to make Dinosaur Planet the next must-have game for the N64. Like the upcoming Zelda title, Dinosaur Planet will require the N64 Expansion Pak. This extra power is used to produce real-time environmental effects, such as shadows, reflections, wind, rain, snow, fog and a day/night system. Expect magnificent sunsets, astounding moon rises over the alien landscape, and organic eye-candy throughout.
