OPERATION:

Meanwhile, Back On The Ranch...

DATE: 2003-06-05 16:29:30

Monster Rancher has always been one of the unsung veterans of the whole 'digital pet' craze. While its roots are still firmly planted in the premise its contemporaries, its unique CD/DVD swapping features, combined with its equally unique monsters have helped to make it stand out.

Entering its fourth iteration in the series, Monster Rancher 4, from Tecmo, looks to bring all of the fun of the original, along with a few new features. The game will still showcase the CD/DVD swapping feature, which allows gamers to create their own unique monsters by using the data from any CD or DVD in their collection. The game will also introduce a slew of new features like multi-breeding and training programs, fully customizable training facilities, and a brand new interactive adventure. A few familiar characters will also be along for the ride, including Mocchi, Suezo and Golem.

Tecmo is really looking to bring the series to the next level, and so far the new adventure mode looks to be just the ticket. After going through the standard breeding and training steps found in the other games, players will be able to take their monsters on a RPG-style adventure. The new multi-breeding system will also offer brand new options for players. In past games, players were only able to train monsters one at a time. Now, they’ll be able to train multiple monsters at a time, adding additional depth to the game. Another feature, the custom training facility, will play a major part in the development of their monsters. Depending on how well players plan out their training grounds, players will be able to train their monsters with better efficiency. The game will also feature a variety of secret adventures, a more evolved battle system and tons of new monsters and levels.

Monster Rancher 4 is scheduled for release this Fall.
