OPERATION:

Eidos Comes Out Swingin'

DATE: 2003-06-05 16:26:53

At E3 this year, Eidos was on hand with plenty to satiate even the most discriminating of gamers. For starters, there was Backyard Wrestling: Don't Try This at Home, which is the videogame translation of the hit pay-per-view series that takes viewers into backyards across America for all out brawls. Scheduled to release this summer, BYW places gamers in the role of an up and coming backyard wrestler and has them work their way up to 'King of Hardcore'. Environments are fully interactive and players are encouraged to use everything they can from lawn chairs to fire from a BBQ pit to take out their opponent. Paradox is the development team behind this one and some of you might recognize them from the old Thrill Kill days. Of course, that game never saw the (legal) light of day due to its extreme violence. Hmmm. They are also behind the X-Men fighting games.

Insane Clown Posse has been snagged to do the music for Backyard > Wrestling and you can expect to see over 20 familiar faces from the world of Backyard Wrestling. If you are into fighting, the summer definitely just got hotter.
