Imagine gliding through the streets of Manhattan, slinging comfortably through streets and alleyways without a care in the world. Spiderman 2, which coincides with the sequel to the popular Universal Studios motion picture, will feature a wondrous environment that encompasses all of Manhattan. As Spiderman, you are responsible for traversing the streets in an effort to rid the city of evil and terror. Along the way, Spiderman can encounter a number of scenarios and obstacles. Most of the obstacles in the game, however, are left to the player.
While Spiderman 2will feature a storyline that is congruent with the film, players will be invited to take on various side tasks, ranging from fighting simple robbers to helping poor little children recover their lost balloons. These side tasks occur randomly throughout the game. Even if the required mission in the game appears ominous and too difficult, players can still be involved in the game through these side tasks. Accomplishing side tasks, while not required, could also help to gain experience and power before attempting larger scenarios.
Scenarios are not limited to simply ?nab the bad guy? objectives. In fact, a single mission may evolve in context and objective as the mission progresses. These objectives may range from chasing runaway cars to dodging enemy bullets.
The most exciting feature of Spiderman 2 has to be Spiderman?s web swinging journeys through the busied streets of Manhattan. Webs need to be attached to something concrete in order to swing from. If Spiderman tries to shoot a web where there is noting to shoot onto, his web-swinging abilities will be disabled until he can attach to something properly.
Due out in 2004, alongside the release of the movie's sequel, Spiderman 2 will deal with Spiderman?s struggle with the evil Dr. Octopus, The Lizard and other villains. Spiderman 2 is definitely geared to overcome the lackluster performance of the previous Spiderman game.
