DATE: 2003-05-26 15:33:35

DreamCatcher

DreamCatcher is shifting their focus in an all new direction. Their flagship game which they are using to do this is called PainKiller.

In PainKiller, you play as a soul trapped between heaven and hell. You are forced to fight in a battle between good and evil in hopes of purifying your soul and joining your girlfriend in heaven. In this first person shooter, you will be forced to take on giants with ground-pounding hammers as well as many more different types of villains.

PainKiller uses the ?PAIN Engine?, a graphics engine designed specifically for this game, that puts out 100X as many polygons as other FPS games out there. The ?PAIN Engine? also uses the latest techniques for lighting and shadowing. This FPS will soon be out for the PC CD-ROM.

Another game being put out by DreamCatcher is Spells & Spirits for the GameCube and GameBoy Advance. Spells & Spirits is a combination of a platformer and a puzzle game, where you take on the role of Alicia, a girl disguised as a witch, or Greg, a boy in the costume of a devil. During the game players will act as both characters in order to get past the many puzzles and enemies.

The Adventure Company

Just one booth away, The Adventure Company, DreamCatcher?s sister company, was showing off several of their top games, games that will make heads look back at the adventure genre.

The Adventure Company was proud to show off the latest version of the classic adventure title, Broken Sword. In this version, called Broken Sword 3: The Sleeping Dragon, the players are in a fully 3D world with dynamic lighting and shadowing. This one looks like it will be a blast for not only fans of the series, but also those who haven't been coverted to the Broken Sword way of life as of yet.

The Crystal Key 2 was another game on display at The Adventure Company?s booth. In this sequel, you are to explore a beautiful planet, in the classic point and click adventure method, in search for a kidnapped stranger. But before long, this simple task culminates into ?an ending of epic proportions.?

Jack the Ripper is a game that puts you in shoes of Jimmy Palmer, a reporter in 1901 for a New York newspaper. Palmer has been writing articles about a series of murders in the Low Side District of NY. These articles have gotten the attention of a ?dark being?. Before long, Palmer realizes that this killer could be none other than Jack the Ripper himself.

Stay tuned as we'll bring you the reviews as the games are released.
