Sonic the Hedgehog, one of the most recognizable names in video game history, is about to take the console world by force. A number of games under this license are going to be popping up within the next year, and they all look promising.

Sonic Heroes, Sonic's tri-platform debut, will be arriving on our shores sometime shortly after the holidays. This new platformer promises to take the genre somewhere it's never been before. With 3 characters to control at once, players can manipulate formations, use their teammates for help, and reach bonus levels that are team specific. 4 different teams give the player 12 characters to utilize, and each has their own story to unfold.

On the GBA side of things, Sonic gets a little meaner. Sonic Battle is a furious combat action game that will be released sometime close to Sonic Heroes. This game will support 3D battles for up to 4 people at a time, either with your friends or the computer. Link up with your friends to do team combos for massive damage and bonus points. Sonic Battle will have eight playable characters, including one unlockable mystery character.

On the classic side of things, the original Sonic, this time called Sonic Adventure DX Director's Cut, will be appearing on the Nintendo GameCube this summer. The original Sonic returns with a new 3D look and over 5 hours of new gameplay, including an all new mission mode with over 50 missions and hidden surprises for gamers to discover.

No matter what system you have, you won't be disappointed with any of these games. Sonic is a tried and true name to the end, and it seems like his games will stay that way for a long time to come.
