OPERATION:

ESPionage New Action/Stealth Game To Blow Your Mind (Up)

DATE: 2003-05-22 11:16:33

With the recent increase in the popularity of stealth style action games (Splinter Cell, Metal Gear Solid), it is no wonder that the major companies are coming out with new ones every time you turn around. But Midway's ESPionage has a twist that will make it stand on its own.

In ESPionage, you use psychic powers to disable, destroy or distract your opponents. You start the game off with your basic start up weapons and no psi powers, but soon you are able to unlock a wide variety of weapons and psychic powers.

“Never before have players been able to use Psi powers in an action/stealth game”, said Helene Sheeler, Midway’s Vice President of Marketing.

Players are going to have to face off against other psychic agents sent out by a super soldier who is bent on taking over the world. Other games may have had some psychic use with in it, but this is the first game of its kind to make it necessary to use these powers to advance and beat the game.

Some of the psychic powers the main character will be able to control are Telekinesis (controlling objects with your mind), Pyrokinesis (making things burn with your mind), an out of body viewing effect called Remote Viewing, a Mind Drain, as well as several other powers.

ESPionage is planned to be released this Fall on the PlayStation 2, Xbox and GameCube.
