CDV Is At It Again

DATE: 2003-05-22 10:40:15

CDV has been known in the past for its in-depth strategy games, and to say they are continuing the trend this year is an understatement. Strategy games are everywhere, with sequels, expansions, and new titles. Games like American Conquest and No Man's Land take you back to the colonization of America as you battle for freedom and a peaceful place to live. WWII is covered with Blitzkrieg and Codename: Panzers. These tactical combat games not only look good, but also play extremely well, delivering WWII era combat at its best. Cossacks II is also scheduled for an early 2004 release, and this time around, you are planted smack in the middle of the Napoleonic wars. Not to be outdone in the sci-fi region, CDV has entered the world of 3D sci-fi space RTS's. Galaxy Andromeda is a title in the same vein as games like Homeworld and ORB, but the developers seem to be really pushing the looks of this game so it isn't marked off as just another clone.

CDV is not just about strategy games, though. Two new FPS's are hitting shelves early 2004, Breed and Psychotoxic. Breed is more of a tactical shooter than a FPS, containing both action and strategic elements on a futuristic Earth engulfed in a devastating war. On the other hand, Psychotoxic is a shooter's shooter. This FPS has you saving the world from Armageddon, but the main character has some unique mind powers that she can unleash upon her enemies.

Adding some new genres to the lineup, the company is working on Lula 3D, an erotic adventure, and Neocron, a MMORPG. Both games have been in the works for a while, and a release for both is nigh on the horizon.

Rounding out this year's lineup are two Xbox games, The Kore Gang and Vultures. The Kore Gang is a cartoony action adventure title that allows you to control 3 freakish characters during the course of the game. Vultures, on the other hand, is a pure beat 'em up with little story and lots of action in mind. Look for both of these games around the holidays.
