Blizzard is going back to its roots this year and is actually bringing something out on a console - actually, 3 consoles. StarCraft: Ghost is a third person action/stealth title set sometime during the Brood War expansion for the original StarCraft game, and will be released on all 3 major home consoles. You get to take one of those sneaky Ghosts with top of the line equipment and a knack for stealth kills on all sorts of missions. All three races are going to make it into the final version, as will many vehicles, so you?ll finally get a chance to personally take it to the enemy.

When Ghost hits shelves later this year (or next year; remember that this is Blizzard we are talking about), players will follow a linear story line and get to use such infamous weapons as the lockdown, sniper rifles, and cloaking. And yes, the most important weapon of any RTS is going to be available at least once during the game. Of course I am speaking of the tactical nuke that can be launched only when the Ghost ?paints? a target for destruction. The developers assured us that if it was allowed as a normal weapon that players would suffer physical harm from over-excitement, so consider yourself blessed that the good people at Blizzard are watching out for you and keeping your nuclear abilities in check.

Hopefully Blizzard will remember that we are all mortals and will try to get Ghost out for the holidays. Whenever it comes out, people will flock to it. There is nothing in this game to make you skeptical about Blizzard?s awesome track record for making solid games. The graphics are already looking extremely smooth, the controls are intuitive and unambiguous even in the pre-release version we saw, and most importantly it is the first chance we get to see things in the StarCraft universe from the eyes of a soldier. Keep a look out for this one, because it is gonna be big.
