OPERATION:

Time To Go Home...Again

When a small, unknown company called Relic unleashed upon the gaming community that which is Homeworld, they turned the RTS genre on its head with a truly 3D space strategy game. Many clones of the game were sure to follow, but none have captivated gamers quite like Homeworld did. Ever since then, fans have been waiting, very patiently I might add, for a sequel. That time is nigh upon us.

Homeworld 2 offers to be bigger and better in every aspect that the original Homeworld offers, and then some. Most notably, the mod support specifically built into the game will enable gamers to replicate just about any sci-fi space combat movie they can think of, or create their own epic universe full of interstellar strife.

For those who loved the first game's story, fear not, for Homeworld 2 picks up the saga about 100 years in the future. Now, instead of fighting for one planet, you lead the Hiigarans on a quest of galactic proportions to reclaim their destiny. A new deadly race also enters the mix, and if you haven't figured it out by now, all this adds up to one hell of a ride.

So far, what we've seen looks absolutely stunning. Huge ships, vivid special effects, and massive battles are going to be all too common it seems. A new and improved Multiplayer mode will not only add to the replay value, but also give gamers a totally unique experience from the single player game. For those of us who have been waiting, our patience is about to pay off. And for everyone else who hasn't yet been exposed to the Homeworld universe, there hasn't been a better time to hop on board than now.
